I work in customer service and my experience with stowaway was less than legendary service. The wrong item was ordered without a panel and that was not made clear on their website. I called to ask about a return and was told I have to fill out a form. She basically said you didn’t read it right — you lose. How about your company didn’t communicate clearly. I did this and was then told I had to pay return shipping plus a restocking fee. So basically I’m better off keeping the unusable item. I reordered on Amazon. No problem. I am now stuck with hardware unusable.
Legendary customer service would be to apologize and send the missing part. Not say you read it wrong and pay.
Stick with Amazon. Boo on stowaway.
Response from StowAway Carriers: Customer ordered the StowAway Hitch Tightener "U-Bolt and Hardware (No Plate)", not the complete "Hitch Tightener Kit", which was delivered as ordered. It is clearly noted in the product description that no hitch tightener plate is included with the option that was ordered. Upon notification that they needed the plate as well, customer was informed the hitch tightener plate could be ordered separately or they could return their order. As the customer did not order the plate originally, they were notified that there would be an added cost to purchase one, similar to if they had ordered the complete kit. The customer elected to not return their original order per our published return policy or purchase the additional component required for the complete Hitch Tightener kit.
